Job Responsibility of the Housekeeper
  • Responsible for the daily cleaning and maintaining the general appearance of the whole residence.
  • Cleaning the rooms of the house daily.
  • Vacuuming, dusting, polishing silver, cleaning brass, cleaning furniture (including upholstered furniture), care of art and antiquities, care of ceramics, cleaning crystal, cleaning windows, care of carpets, cleaning fireplaces, cleaning doors, mopping floors, waxing floors, moving and arranging furniture, and turning mattresses.
  • Laundry and ironing of fine clothing, linens, bedding, tablecloths, towels, and repairs to clothing.
  • Setting the table for breakfast, lunch & dinner; serving at each meal and assisting the Chef in the kitchen.
  • Cleaning the kitchen, washing glasses, china, cutlery, and cooking utensils.
  • Floral arranging and potting houseplants.
  • Complete morning service: making beds, ironing beds, opening curtains, removing clothing, checking & cleaning en-suite bathrooms, and checking bottled waters.
  • Complete night service: opening beds, checking pillows, preparing hot water bottles, closing curtains, and cleaning en-suite bathrooms.
  • Purchasing or ordering groceries and household supplies to keep kitchens stocked.
  • Packing and unpacking clothing, accessories and jewellery.
  • Occasional travel to the summer residence.
 
Job Requirement
  • A minimum of three (3) years similar work experience.
  • Strong English communication skills, verbal and written.
  • General understanding of technical systems including home cinema, computer networks, security systems, remote controlled fires and heating system.
  • Must be able to provide high quality services in a professional, courteous and accommodating manner to the principals, guests, co-workers and outside service providers.
  • Flexible scheduling with availability to work evenings, weekends and travel, as needed.
  • Professional, polished, and discreet, always maintain confidentiality.
  • Energetic with a strong work ethic, effective communication skills and ability to anticipate needs of the employers and guests.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure and handle last minute changes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.

Job Salary

Job Additional Information
  • Working shifts: contracted hours are generally 60 hours per week when Principals are in residence and 20 hours per week when not. The Principals are generally in residence 6 months per year.
