Position Description
Summary
We are seeking an experienced and refined Head Butler / Head of Hospitality to oversee the service operations of a prestigious private estate located on Lake Joseph in the Muskoka region. This seasonal position (April through November) is ideally suited to a hospitality professional with a strong background in luxury service and private household environments.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a seamless, high-standard guest experience while ensuring the estate operates with precision, discretion, and consistency at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Relations
- Welcome family members and guests with professionalism and warmth.
- Coordinate arrivals and departures, including discreet and efficient luggage handling.
- Anticipate guest preferences to deliver a highly personalized experience.
Dining & Beverage Service
- Oversee formal and informal table settings to the highest standards.
- Execute and supervise multi-course meal service with precision.
- Manage and elevate beverage service, including wine, spirits, and cigars.
Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate inventories of specialty food items, fine wines, spirits, and cigars.
- Ensure proper storage, rotation, and replenishment of all consumables.
Team Coordination
- Work closely with the Private Chef, Housekeepers, and Property Manager.
- Ensure seamless communication and execution across all departments.
Staff Leadership
- Supervise, train, and schedule service staff.
- Coordinate additional contracted butlers and seasonal service personnel as required.
Estate Presentation
- Ensure all guest-facing areas are maintained to impeccable standards.
- Conduct regular walkthroughs to uphold presentation and readiness.
Procurement
- Oversee purchasing of household supplies and guest amenities.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels and anticipate operational needs.
Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Head Butler, Senior Butler, or Head of Hospitality within a UHNW private household or luxury hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of formal service, etiquette, and household protocols.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Discreet, polished, and service-oriented demeanor.
- Ability to anticipate needs and operate proactively.
- Flexible and adaptable to a dynamic household environment.
- Must have a valid driver’s and boating licence.

- Schedule: Seasonal, June to November 2026. Full time with a variable schedule.
