WHAT IS A PRIVATE CHEF?
Here’s a common description of this profession:
- Also known as Personal Chef.
- Responsible for menu planning and preparing daily meals, also for
special events and entertaining. - Must take into account family members’ dietary restrictions.
- May prepare different meals for different household members and guests.
- Oversees the service, plate presentation and overall kitchen area.
- In charge of anything food or kitchen-related: organization,
cleanliness, shopping for supplies. - May also be in charge of other kitchen staff.
- Work in team with the service staff (e.g. Butler, Maître
d’Hôtel, other service staff). - Formally trainied in a reknowned culinary school.
- Report to the House Manager or directly to the principal.
Salary range: $100,000 to $200,000+

The Private Cook
WHAT IS A PRIVATE COOK?
Here’s a common description of this profession:
- In charge of planning, preparing and serving healthy everyday simple
meals. - Manages every aspect of the kitchen, including grocery shopping and
storage management. - No formal training is required.
- Report directly to the principal.
Salary range: $70,000 to $90,000+
